California Recall

Newsom Recall Vote

Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom is the first to face a recall in California since 2003 – the only successful one in the state’s history, in which Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger replaced Democratic Gov. Gray Davis. This year, every registered voter in the state was mailed a ballot and asked to answer two questions: whether to recall Newsom and who should replace him if he’s recalled. Newsom wasn’t allowed to be listed on the replacement question but 46 others qualified for the ballot.
